22 veterans take their life every day and honeybee populations are declining. Together, we can provide connection and purpose through beekeeping to those who first served us.

We think that mentorship is one of the greatest things that we can do in our lives. Just like in a hive, we all take part in the health and success.
Together we can save bees and save vets!

Beekeeping became an interest of mine after my husband and I started our hobby farm. Farming was a way for me to escape the city for a "simpler" life, as city life is an anxiety trigger for me. As my mentorship progresses the more I realize how calming and rewarding it is. It keeps my hands busy. Idle hands means a busy mind, and a busy mind is rarely a good thing for me.

Jason, Mentor
I was medicating myself with lots of alcohol for awhile and I was on a path that was going to end badly. I quit the bottle and took up smoking bees. I just wanted a few hives fo play with and now I have around 40. I became a mentor for Hives for Heroes because I like helping other learn about bees.

Although brief, my exposure in learning the life of bees has been a great bonding experience for my daughter and I, from which my time is a very limited commodity with. Looking forward to eventually starting my hive when I'm ready.
